Tiger Woods' first public golf course design in the United States is about to open its doors.
Payne's Valley, Woods' course at Big Cedar Lodge in Branson, Mo., is set to open for preview play on March 6. At opening, there will be 13 playable holes for guests to play. The green fee will be $195.
Woods' design philosophy is built around making his courses playable for every type of player: challenging for the elite player while accommodating for the average player. With wide playing ways, a variety of holes types, stunning views and emphasizing the ground game, Payne's Valley is billed as the ideal kind of resort course -- all with Woods' stamp.
Payne's Valley joins the battery of remarkable courses at Big Cedar, including the Coore-and-Crenshaw-designed Ozarks National, Gary Player's 13-hole Mountain Top and the Tom Fazio-crafted Buffalo Ridge Springs as the full-length courses on property. Jack Nicklaus' Top of the Rock par-3 course has also hosted the PGA Tour Champions event previously held at the resort.
If you'd like to hold off until Payne's Valley is fully open, the resort anticipates a complete grand opening in the summer at a date still to be announced.
Big Cedar is the standout golf attraction in Branson, but the broader area has offerings from Bob Cupp, Bobby Clampett and other top architects at a variety of price points for any budget.
