A slice of the market that is already very crowded is that of mid-sized electric crossovers, who will have to fight for a still small number of customers in Italy. Suffice it to say that in the first six months of 2022 only 25,082 electric cars were sold, out of a total of 684,228 new cars registered. But the manufacturers are now launched in the transformation process and are creating ranges parallel to those with thermal engines. And that of the medium is one of the segments that has seen the greatest commitment by car manufacturers. The two latest contenders in chronological order are the Toyota bZ4X and the Nissan Ariya, which are waiting for the already established Volkswagen ID.4, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, Ford Mustang Mach-E and Skoda Enyaq iV.
There Toyota bZ4X is a crossover 469 long, 186 wide and 165 cm high, will arrive in Italy from September with a price list that will start from around 50,000 euros, for the front-wheel drive version with 204 HP in the “basic” version and 3,000 euros more for the versions 4×4 with 218 hp. In both the maximum speed is 160 km / h, while the sprint from 0 to 100 km / h is 8.4 seconds for the first and 7.7 for the second. The lithium-ion battery of the Toyota bZ4X is integrated into the floor of the platform, has a capacity of 71.4 kWh, and ensures a range that varies from 516 to 470 km, respectively for two-wheel drive and for 4×4. HYUNDAI IONIQ 5
There Hyundai Ioniq 5 it is one of the most original cars of recent years, with a crossover body that looks straight out of the 80s. 464 long, 189 wide and 165 cm high, it has a boot of 527 liters. The passenger compartment is very spacious, with the front seats equipped with extendable leg supports, and the sliding sofa. The dashboard is minimalist, with two 12.3 “displays placed side by side within a single support. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is offered with rear-wheel drive only (for the entrance fittings), or with four-wheel drive and two engines, one in the front and one behind. In the first case the power is 170 or 218 HP, with 350 Nm of maximum torque: the sprint declared for the “0-100” is respectively 8.5 and 7.4 seconds. In the 4×4 versions the additional engine has a power of 72 hp or 95 hp, bringing in the more powerful version to over 300 hp combined and a value of 605 Nm of maximum torque: according to the house, it takes 5.2 seconds to go from zero to 100 km / h (6.1 seconds for the less powerful 4×4 version). Three versions are available: Progress, Innovation and Evolution, with prices ranging from 44,750 euros, passing through 48,450 for the intermediate one up to 60,250 for the top version with 72.6 kWh long range battery.

there Volkswagen ID.4 it is 458 long, 185 wide and 161 cm high and has a trunk of 543 liters. It has a simple and rigorous style characterized by large smooth surfaces and is engineered on the MEB platform. The price list starts from 47,200 for the Pure Performance version with 52 kWh battery, up to 53,400 for the Pro Performance with 77 kWh battery, respectively with 170 and 204 HP engines. The ID.4 GTX version is also available with all-wheel drive, 77 kWh battery and 299 hp power. The latter has a combined range of 477 km. The rigor of the bodywork is also found inside the passenger compartment, which has enough space for five adults and those who sit in the center of the sofa do not have a tunnel between their feet, as the floor is flat. The atmosphere is rather minimalist. The dashboard is distinguished by the small 7 ”digital dashboard, which contains only the essential information and by the central display which has a range that varies from 10 to 12 depending on the version.

There Kia EV6 it is a crossover for families, but the performance of the more powerful variants is that of a supercar. 469 long, 189 wide and 155 cm high, together with the “cousin” Ioniq 5 (the two cars share the same technical structure) it is one of the most original models available. Looking at it, the unprecedented proportions immediately catch the eye: a mix between those of a sports car and those of an SUV. The interior of the Kia EV6 also follows the technological style of the bodywork. The dashboard is dominated by two 12.3 ”displays placed side by side in a single support: one is in charge of the multimedia system, the other, positioned behind the steering wheel, provides useful information while driving. The different versions of the Kia EV6 are the result of the combination of two battery cuts, rear or all-wheel drive and various power levels. The base and the GT-line Standard Range with 58 kWh battery can be had with rear-wheel drive (170 HP of power and 350 Nm of torque) or with all-wheel drive (235 HP / 605 Nm). The battery of the Long Range versions rises to 77.4 kWh as well as power and torque: 229 hp / 350 Nm for the 2WD and 325 hp / 605 Nm for the AWD. The price list of the 299 HP Air with 77.4 kWh battery starts at € 50,950 up to the € 54,450 of the 325 HP version with two engines. Those of the GT-line range from 59,950 euros for the 229 hp version, up to 63,450 euros for the 325 hp variant.
FORD MUSTANG MACH-E

Three versions are available: Mach-E (62,650 euros) with rear-wheel drive autonomy of 440 or 610 km depending on the battery from 75.7 or 98.8 kWh, (the power, depending on the battery, varies from 279 to 294 Hp) , Mach-E AWD, with two engines that give it all-wheel drive, and autonomy from 400 to 540 km depending on the size of the battery (the power varies from 269 to 361 Hp), and, finally, there is the GT which costs 84,250, has a range of 500 km, 465 hp and a 99 kWh battery.

SKODA ENYAQ iV

The Nissa Ariya is distinguished by a bodywork with harmonious lines and smooth surfaces, underlined by the particular shape of the roof, which draws an almost perfect arc blending with the windscreen and rear window. Also very particular is the original grille, which does not have the chrome “V” shaped frieze.
