Range Rover Velar: reasoned evolution

The large SUV Range Rover Velar (it is 480 cm long), in production since 2017, it is updated by introducing a series of aesthetic, technical and technological innovations. Already available for order, the list starts from 71,100 euros.

From a stylistic point of view the Range Rover Velar does not change in substance. The most important changes focus on the frontnow cleaner thanks to a compact and tapered grille that incorporates headlights with LED pixel technology 9 with Dynamic Bend Lighting, and the rear, where lights with super LED technology and a brand new light design make their debut. The bumpers and fascia have also been revised. The new body colors make their debut: Metallic Varesine Blue, Premium Metallic Zadar Gray and Arroios Grey.

Inside the luxurious interiorthe solution with two screens gives way to the new Pivi Pro multimedia system visible on an 11.4″ curved glass, always connected to the network and compatible with OTA updates and with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto WiFi. The transition to this more compact solution has made the layout of the dashboard cleaner, freeing up a lot of available space, in addition to the wireless charging compartment, also for numerous storage compartments unprecedented materials for the seats, offered as a sustainable alternative to leather, such as the Danish wool Kvadrat fabric with Ultrafabrics polyurethane inserts, perforated in a Diamond Herringbone pattern (it is a material 58 percent lighter than leather). As for the leather upholstery, four new colors are introduced: Cloud, Caraway, Raven Blue and Deep Garnet.

Ride comfort on board Range Rover Sailingr is also ensured by Active Road Noise Cancellation technology, which detects external frequencies and automatically processes a noise reduction through the vehicle’s audio system (noise is reduced by a minimum of 4 dB). Optional Meridian audio system, which uses up to 17 speakers and 750 W of amplifier power. Do not miss the air purification system (available as part of the Comfort Pack, standard on Autobiography), which helps ensure cleaner interior air thanks to advanced PM2.5 filtration systems with CO2 management.

The full range of engines from the Range Rover Velar sees the presence of diesel Ingeniums, equipped with Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) technology, petrol and plug-in hybrids (P400e). All versions have all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic gearbox. There P400ewhich combines a 143 HP electric motor with a 300 HP Ingenium 2.0 turbo petrol engine, for a total of 404 HP and 640 Nm of torque, benefits from a 12% larger battery (now 19.2 kWh), which has allowed to increase the range in electric mode to 64 km.

The entry-level petrol version P250 provides for the four-cylinder 2-liter it delivers 250hp and 365Nm of torque, mated to the eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. Two diesel versions, both light hybrids: D200which combines the 4-cylinder diesel engine with 204 HP and 430 Nm of torque with the mild hybrid system; D300where, for the same configuration, the overall power rises to 300 HP with a torque of 650 Nm.
