OnePlus 10 Pro review
OnePlus finally returns to the market with its new top of the range, this time in a single version. Let’s find out together OnePlus 10 Pro.
Packaging
In the OnePlus 10 Pro package we find an 80W power supply, a USB / USB-C cable and a green silicone cover, which recalls the shade of the smartphone.
Construction and Ergonomics
OnePlus he chose for his 10 Pro a very particular design, with a band that virtually “arises” from the lateral metal profile to include its main cameras and its flashes. It is certainly an interesting solution and which, especially in the green variant we tested, immediately catches the eye. The finish on the back of the smartphone is then a beautiful frosted glass that does not retain fingerprints at all. The smartphone still has a certainly generous size but is still used quite well in the hand. The back is Gorilla Glass 5, while the front is Gorilla Glass Victus. Unfortunately it is not resistant to water and dust, at least not with an official certification.
OnePlus 10 Pro flex its muscles with its top-of-the-range hardware. We have a 3 GHz Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 octa core processor, Adreno 730 GPU and either 8 or 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM. The internal memory amounts to 128 or 256 GB accordingly, made in UFS 3.1 technology (as always, not expandable). We also have excellent connectivity: 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC and also video output via the USB-C 3.1 port. On the other hand, the 3.5 mm audio jack for headphones is missing. On the other hand, the characteristic three-state switch of the ringtone is inevitable, now an essential feature of every OnePlus smartphone.
Other features worth mentioning include dual SIM support, a great vibration and haptic feedback system, and overall a good five-layer cooling system that helps contain the processor’s hot spirits.
Camera
OnePlus 10 Pro comes with a very interesting camera kit. We have a main camera from 48 megapixel ƒ / 1.8 optically stabilizedan 8 megapixel ƒ / 2.4 3.3X optical zoom and a 50 megapixel ƒ / 2.2 wide angle lens with an aperture of 150 ° (but you can also shoot with a classic wide angle).
The photos taken by the smartphone are truly top of the range. The images are rich in detail, with excellent light balance and fast and precise focusing. However, there are contexts in which you can see the difference with other premium smartphones: the zoom camera with less light, particular light / color situations or at night without night mode. Considering the 2022 standards, it is still a good top-of-the-range camera. Very good is the wide-angle camera (which finally enjoys a significant number of pixels available) and also the 32 megapixel ƒ / 2.2 front camera.
The video part is also good. You can make videos in 8K to 24fps or in 4K a 120fpsbut they are those at 60fps the most interesting since they are decidedly more stable than the other solutions. The images are also rich in detail and color. Too bad you have to go down to 30fps to take advantage of the excellent wide angle. Less well the front, which makes good videos but only in Full HD.
Display
OnePlus 10 Pro mounts a 6.7-inch diagonal panel in technology LTPO AMOLED which guarantees a variable refresh rate between 1 and 120 Hz. The screen has a very high resolution. Let’s talk about QHD +, that is 1440 x 3216 pixels. It is a panel with excellent brightness (at maximum 1300 nits peak) and with an excellent color rendering. It supports waking up on lifting, natural tone mode and the always-on display, obviously customizable. Unless you like the curvature on the sides of the screen it is undoubtedly one of the best displays on the square.
Software
OnePlus 10 Pro is launched on the market with Android 12 and the OxygenOS 12.1. This smartphone is the first of a new generation, since the company announced that it has joined the development teams of OPPO and that of OnePlus. The software behind it is in fact the OPPO ColorOS, modified with some of the functions most appreciated by OnePlus users, such as Shelf to collect widgets or Zen Mode to “disconnect” from the smartphone. On the contrary, we have functions borrowed from the OPPO software, such as quick start, the many customization options and the game mode. Overall, it is a fast and fluid software, which has some differentiating points compared to its brothers, but which is certainly no longer one of the main reasons to buy the smartphone.
Autonomy
OnePlus 10 Pro comes with a 5,000 mAh. This is a good ability that is also reflected in autonomy. Of course the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is not the least energy-intensive processor around, but in any case the balance seems more than satisfactory. With an average use you can always get to the end of the day without problems. In case your day has been particularly “intense” the recharge will come to the rescue SuperVOOC from ben 80W, one of the most powerful around. Wireless charging at 50W is also supported, one of the features absent from the cheaper top of the range. It also features reverse wireless charging.
Price
OnePlus 10 Pro is marketed to € 919 in the 8/128 denomination and at € 999 in the 12/256 one, perhaps the only really sensible one considering the non-expandability of the memory. Many, perhaps too many. Not absolutely mind you, the competition has done even “worse”. However, it is starting to become more difficult to justify this price considering the original identity of OnePlus.

Final judgement
OnePlus 10 Pro
We already told ourselves last year (and the one before) that in order to make a phone truly at the top, prices must necessarily be raised. OnePlus puts a lot on the plate, exactly as it has done for the past couple of years. What he lacks is that extra bit of personality that made him a fascinating choice for a certain part of the public who will now rightly ask “does it still make sense?”. As angry as an old fan may be, there is little to say: The OnePlus 10 Pro is definitely worth it. We hope for some price drop.
