The Mercedes GLE wants to stay young

FROM 2019 – After five years on the market the current generation of Mercedes GLE (codename W167) it updates with stylistic, technological and technical innovations, with the engine range which is now completely electrified.

INSIDE CHANGES LITTLE – The cockpit of the Mercedes GLE has the same setting as the model currently on the price list, however, the multimedia system MBUX visible on the two paired 12.3” displays has been updated. The new multifunction steering wheel with soft touch controls and the chrome finishes on the air vents make their debut.

THE ENGINE RANGE – As for the range of engines from the Mercedes GLE, which is now entirely electrified (including mild hybrid and plug-in versions), the power of some versions has been increased, such as that of the GLE 400 and 4MATIC, which increases by 30 kW (40 HP). This is the detail of the light hybrid versions available: GLE 450 4MATICequipped with a 3-litre 6-cylinder petrol engine with 381 HP and 500 Nm of torque; GLE 300d 4MATIC with the 2-litre 4-cylinder diesel 269 HP and 550 Nm; GLE 450d 4MATIC which provides for the 3-litre 6-cylinder diesel 367 HP and 750 Nm. Two plug-in hybrids with external rechargeable battery: GLE 400 and 4MATIC from 382 HP and 600 Nm of torque, which combines the 252 HP 2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine with the 136 HP electric; And GLE 350 de 4MATIC with 333 HP and 750 Nm of torque, which combines the 197 HP 2-litre 4-cylinder diesel with the 136 HP electric unit.

THE AMGs – At the top of the range are the sports cars with all-wheel drive and 9-speed automatic, AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+powered by the 3-litre 6-cylinder petrol engine delivering 435 HP with 560 Nm, and AMG GLE 63S 4MATIC+with 612 HP 4-litre V8 petrol engine and 850 Nm of torque.

ADAS EVOLVE – Improved the equipment of driver assistance systemswhich now includes new functions such as the parking package with 360° camera, which supports the driver when maneuvering into and out of parking spaces, and the “transparent bonnet”, which shows a virtual view below the central display when driving off-road the front of the vehicle, thus facilitating maneuvers on steep terrain.

IT GOES BETTER OFF-ROAD – The German company has also improved the equipment of the Off-Road Engineering package, including better protection and, in combination with the optional AIRMATIC air suspension, 30 millimeters more ground clearance. Towing capacity also benefits from increased range; All-wheel drive and gear ratio allow up to 3.5 tons.

BEWARE OF THE TRAILER – Also new for the GLE and GLE Coupé is the Trailer Route Planner for the navigation system, which plans routes suitable for the driving with a trailer previously defined, which do not involve large deviations or loss of time.
