With its robust appearance, driving the new BMW X1 offers an experience of freedom and independence, in everyday life and on longer journeys. State-of-the-art interior design, sophisticated ambience and much wider selection of standard equipment than the previous model enhance its character premium.

BMW X1: launch in October

The third generation of the SUV will be launched on the market in October 2022; at that moment customers can choose between two engines petrol and two diesel engines, both combined with a seven-speed Steptronic gearbox with double clutch as standard and, depending on the model, the drive will be front or all-wheel drive with BMW xDrive.

Following these versions, the BMW iX1 xDrive30 will also be offered purely electric, as well as a couple of models plug-in hybrids and two other variants with traditional propulsion with 48V mild hybrid technology. The new BMW X1 will be built at the BMW Group plant in Regensburg, where for the first time models with thermal engines, plug-in hybrid systems and electric drive will roll off a single assembly line.

The design of the third generation of the SUV

The surface treatment, lines and classy details of the BMW X1’s exterior design show its identity as a Sports Activity Vehicle even more clearly than in the past. The SUV is distinguished by its vigorous proportions, the almost square contours of the wheel arches and the characteristic BMW X styling of the front and rear.

As for the interior, the raised seating position and the premium ambience, designed on the BMW iX, help to create a unique driving experience. The key elements of the new interior are the slim instrument cluster, the BMW Curved Display, the “floating” armrest with integrated control panel and the smartphone tray with indirect lighting in the front of the center console.

The newly designed seats are available with the option of perforated Sensatec and Vernasca leather upholstery. Among optional customers also have the option of choosing sports seats, electric seat adjustment with memory function and lumbar support with massage function. Acoustic comfort and occupant protection have been further improved.

The first electric model

The new BMW iX1 xDrive30 is the first all-wheel drive electric car introduced by the brand in the premium compact segment. The zero-emission SUV features two drive units integrated on the front and rear axles, capable of unleashing the combined power of 230 kW / 313 hp and an overall torque of 494 Nm.
