TOWe tried it in preview the brand new Moto Morini SEIEMMEZZO 650 in the two declinations: the STR, more street, and the SCR, in scrambler configuration.

We tell you how they are made in Trivolzio, at the Moto Morini, where the bikes are designed, designed and tested by Italian technicians. Alberto Monnigeneral manager of Moto Morini, explains in detail the characteristics, the philosophy that led to the birth of the SEIEMMEZZO, but also the very interesting introductory price. The Moto Morini SEIEMMEZZO employs the 650 twin-cylinder engine of the X-Cape, which is revised at the map and download level. The steel frame is dedicated and Kayaba suspensions are newfully adjustable. The braking system is Brembo with ABS (cannot be deactivated).

The choice of rims is very particular: spoke on the STR, tubeless spokes on the SCR. But what is surprising is the front diameter, equal to 18 inches (against the usual 17 of naked motorcycles). A precise choice, wanted to give the Moto Morini SEIEMMEZZO a more natural and less reactive feeling on the horrible Italian roads. The 18 “is in fact less quick to get into the fold, but much rounder and easier.

On the road she convinced us, both me and Cristina Bacchetti who gives us her precious comment on two new bikes, also designed for the very young and girls. The bike is marketed in standard version or limited to 35 kW (for A2 license holders).

Pleasant, full at the lows and always generous the engine, which has 60 horsepower, enough for a top speed of 170 km / h. The finishes are accurate, especially if we think of the excellent price, and the instrumentation is complete and legible. Some vibrations appear over 130 km / h, a speed that is not very suitable on a motorcycle that is born to travel without haste. The handling is excellent, thanks to the weight of 200 kg.

The new SEIEMMEZZO by Morini

The Moto Morini SEIEMMEZZO STR told by Cristina

Lat first sensation riding the Moto Morini Seiemmezzo STR is that everything is exactly in its place: starting from the ergonomics of the saddle triangle – handlebar – footrests, up to all the details such as i handlebar blocks (backlit!)the keys, the mirrors.

For me, who measure 165 centimeters, therefore an average height, the STR is welcoming and practical, because the saddle 81 cm from the ground allows you to easily place your feet so that maneuvers at low speeds or emergency stops are never problematic. Seiemmezzo attracts glances. Curious, fascinated, expert looks.

And also some compliments, especially from those who lived the Morini a long time ago. They have an important name, these newcomers, which they wear with pride and without disfiguring. Having ascertained that the riding position and the finishes of the bike are more than ok, we leave for our dynamic test with the white STR.

Just turned on the roar of the engine suggests intentions rather than serious, the hum of the twin cylinder gives way to a nice sound full-bodied once you have engaged the first gear and given breath to the engine. The clutch is not one of the softest tested, but the possibility of adjusting the lever makes everything easier, the gearbox is precise, silent and soft, a particular not negligible especially if you use the bike in the continuous start & stop citizens.

In an urban environment, the STR behaves very well, does not require gear changes and even the suspension works in favor of comfort of those who drive it, but are out of town giving their best, on the first distant hills they show an unexpected temper that allows fun to the neophyte, in complete safety, as well as to the more experienced motorcyclist who, perhaps, no longer wants to pull the 200 horsepower motorcycle neck.

Also here the suspensions accompany the guide, enjoyable or fast, following folds and curves even on not perfect asphalts. The slightly loaded position on the front increases the feeling with the bike and the Pirelli Angel GT tires, with the 18-inch front, do the rest. In favor of the safety of the driver there is certainly also the braking: well modulated, calibrated, never invasive and with an ABS that only really works when it’s needed, and well. It does not put you in crisis even in the event of an emergency stop or nailed to uneven surfaces. In conclusion, a nice, well-built and beautiful bike to show off at the bar as well as to take on the mountain passes. Beautiful yes, and above all … Italian!

The Moto Morini SEIEMMEZZO SCR

H.at le Pirelli MT60 knobby tires and raised handlebars. Driving him is easy in any situation. Only the saddle is a bit hard, but this is a pre-series bike and Moto Morini is already working to make the final more comfortable.

It was not born for serious off-roading, but with these tires the dirt roads face each other without any problem. On the road, handlebars aside, it offers the excellent sensations of the STR driven by Cristina. They are beautiful bikes, these SIX MEZZO.

Perfect for the classic driving day. Leave the city, take a swim in the sea. And in the meantime, you can bend as much as I can!
