Have you ever heard of proxies? Thanks to this you can overcome government restrictions that block WhatsApp!
Unfortunately not all countries in the world are as free as in Italy, indeed there are many countries even far from us both geographically and culturally where there are some rather heavy restrictions. Especially in Eastern Europe, internet access is not free as we have it here in Europe and many applications that we use every day, such as WhatsApp for example, are not accessible to everyone or in any case have heavy restrictions which we don’t have.
Until today, overcoming these restrictions was practically impossible unless specific permissions were granted, but now with one of the latest updates of the green messaging app these complaints can also be overcome quite easily, even if we are in countries that have restrictions regarding WhatsApp. This new function is intended both for those who live in restricted countries and for those who may travel to these countries and would like to use WhatsApp to communicate with their family or friends.
What is a “proxy” server
This new function, which guarantees to overcome the restrictions imposed by the governments of certain countries, allows our WhatsApp to connect to a proxy serversbut what is it about? A proxy server is nothing more than a server that acts as an intermediary between the client (in this case the user who is using WhatsApp) and the main server of the application. This way you can bypass the server restrictions using this very proxy.
At present, proxies are used mainly for three purposes in computing: to provide anonymity when browsing the Internet, to store a local copy of the requested web objects so that they can be re-provisioned without having to log in again to the target servers, and to create an defense (call firewalls) to protect against cyber attacks from the web, by controlling incoming and outgoing connections.
Activate the proxy in WhatsApp
Beyond all these IT explanations that only serve to understand trivially what we are talking about, let’s now see in practice how to connect to this “intermediary server” using the WhatsApp settings. Before listing all the steps, it is good to specify that it can be done on both Android and iOS devices, where obviously the procedure changes slightly, but the purpose is always the same: to break down the restrictions.

On Android the procedure to do is this:
- Open WhatsApp
- On the chat screen, click on the three dots and then “Settings”
- Click on “Space and data”
- Click on “Proxy” and finally “Use Proxy”
On iOStherefore devices such as iPhone and iPad, you have to do this:
- Open WhatsApp
- Click on “Space and data”
- Click on “Proxy” and finally “Use Proxy”
By doing so in no time at all, all the restrictions that were present on WhatsApp will completely disappear, thus overcoming all the IT blocks that the government of a certain country had imposed.
