Massimiliano Allegri has many faults. I list them precisely because of the enormous esteem I have towards him and, more generally, the thrilling ones: six league titles, a few cups and two Champions League finals lost to Ronaldo’s Real and Messi’s Barcelona are not attributable to luck.
The first. He returned to Juve when he could have (had to, personal opinion) have preferred Real or Inter. Beyond the fascination exerted by Agnelli and the sense of revenge he felt, he did not convince me of the explanation that Max provided: he wanted to remain close to his little son, his only affection for him… stable on him. The role would not authorize such choices, that is strictly familiar: it is very well paid and carries considerable responsibilities towards the company and the fans who pay. Moreover, the history of football is full of excellent contraindications: Lippi’s return to Juve (the come back to the national team deserves a separate discussion), those of Sacchi and Capello to Milan, Spalletti’s adventure-bis to Rome, marked in particular by personal and corporate conflicts with Francesco Totti.
The second, linked to the first. Although he is not inclined to flashbacks, he has joined again the Juve that he had criticized in the past, a club in which he no longer seemed to believe. He also found it poorer because of the pandemic and the ronaldìa. The exit of Paratici certainly could not be enough to fix things.
The third. Aware of the spending limits and the caliber of the group-team, in the summer it had little impact on market choices, contenting himself with Pogba and Di Maria. Bremer arrived thanks to the sale of de Ligt.
The fourth. He’s in bad luck and this too is a fault, for some. He immediately lost Pogba and Di Maria, the potential raisers. Not to mention the impossibility of having a church until January. The Frenchman’s decision not to have surgery immediately is unjustifiable.
The fifth. He relied excessively on his abilities and feelings. I repeat: I consider him one of the most brilliant coaches around, but sometimes genius can border on presumption. Any true genius is bound to be naive, said von Schiller. I find it hard to believe that Allegri is naive, but – of course – this time he went a little beyond logic. The team that has been entrusted to him – I repeat that his hand is hardly noticeable – presents a series of players that are too similar to each other in terms of level and performance. For this reason Max struggles to change design, strategy, men and roles without obtaining acceptable results. The potential holders of this Juve, the indisputable ones, should be Szczesny, Bremer, Danilo, Bonucci, Rabiot, Locatelli, Cuadrado, Vlahovic, Pogba, Chiesa and Di Maria. The goalkeeper, Pogba and Chiesa are injured, Rabiot also, Di Maria has just returned, Locatelli and Vlahovic are not going through a good moment of form, Cuadrado can no longer be Cuadrado. So far, the best has been Milik. Perin also played the role of deputy best. Among the most used is the young Miretti, who in order to grow would need to be employed with a more studied frequency. The rest of the group falls into the category “this or that for me equal they are”.
And yet – I say not to assume its defense – Allegri is at the center of an entrepreneurial diatribe, rather than football, which is not easy to solve in the old fashion – as many Juventus players inside and out would like – with the classic liberating torpedo. Arrivabene’s joke to the fan, then explained by the author, is a whole program.

Allegri, whoever accuses him of not knowing how to play football does not understand anything about football
