The revolution of the championship: Milan, Inter and Juventus (and Rome) lose together. It hadn’t happened for seven years

It was the 2015-16 season, sixth day of the championship. Inter lost at home 1-4 against Fiorentina. AC Milan, away, yielded to Genoa 1-0. And at the San Paolo stadium – now renamed «Maradona»-, Napoli defeated Juventus 2-1. Seven years later, the most successful teams in the A league they rediscover themselves as losers on the seventh day of a championship that is upsetting all summer predictions. At 12.30 on Sunday 18 September, Inter suffered Udinese for almost the entirety of the match, leaving the Dacia Arena defeated with the result of 3-1. The performance of the Inter defense stands out negatively: the precious piece Milan Škriniar, long courted during the summer by Paris Saint-Germain, brought the Bianconeri back on a tie – Inter were ahead thanks to Nicolò Barella’s free-kick – with an own goal. In the thirtieth minute, the technician Simone Inzaghi he replaced the central defender Alessandro Bastoni, who was booked in the first part of the match. In the second half, substitute Stefan de Vrij is the main defendant in the action of Udinese’s second goal, having lost the scoring to Jaka Bijol.

In the afternoon, the same fate for Inter happened to the team of Massimiliano Allegri. The bianconeri, orphans of Ángel Di María sent off in the fortieth minute, they did not create a game and never became dangerous near the goal defended by Michele Di Gregorio. Monza, in the first match of the new coach Raffaele Palladino – a former Juventus striker – won 1-0 thanks to Christian Gytkjær’s goal. It is the first ever Serie A victory for the team of Silvio Berlusconi. In the last match of the day – before the national break, in which Italy will play at San Siro against England in the Nations League – Milan were defeated at home by Napoli. The Italian champions, in a balanced match, lost 1-2. The Neapolitans opened the scoring on a penalty kick, scored by Matteo Politano. Olivier Giroud took care of bringing the match back to a draw: the Frenchman is in fourth scoring in the league. Twelve minutes from the end, however, Napoli managed to get back in the lead thanks to a header by Giovanni Simeone.

At the moment, all three teams are out of the Champions League: fifth place for Milan, seventh for Inter, eighth for Juventus. The day for Roma did not go better than José Mourinho. During the warm-up of the Olimpico match against Atalanta, the Portuguese manager had to change the lineup due to the injury of Paulo Dybala: resentment in the left flexor for the Argentine. In a match influenced by controversy – Mourinho was expelled for protests – Roma ruled the game without being able to overtake the Bergamo goalkeeper Marco Sportiello. Ends 0-1 for Atalanta: the Bergamo team takes home the three points thanks to an action scored by two players born in 2003: assist by Rasmus Höjlund, goal by Giorgio Scalvini. Napoli and Atalanta lead the championship, at 17 points, followed by Udinese, at 16.
